Do we hire for "Free" Media?

Let us make it clear, media have 2 major form, one is old media which are those media such as
newspaper,magazine, TV, radio, book and so on. Another major form will be new media, which had been
widely used for our current generation.There are a lot of form such as video streaming, facebook, online
newspaper and so on. All new media can be on demand anywhere with a gadget with internet access.

In my title,I believe the media which are free is point to new media as i believe old media will not completed free right? 

So, do we hire for free media? In my opinion, YES...why? Because who doesn't like free stuff? So since new media is free, so why don't grab one more medium to disseminate our message?
